  1. Explore the beauty of Nature

  2. Great for fitness

  3. Connect with people

  4. Learn new skills

  5. Challenge yourself

  6. It's fun!

1. Explore the Beauty of Nature

Aotearoa, New Zealand, is one of the most beautiful countries in the world. With its lush native bush, rugged mountains, cascading waterfalls and deep blue lakes, there is a lot to see and explore. Canyoning gives us the opportunity to see some impressive sights in places that few have been before. There is something so incredibly beautiful about hanging on a rope next to a waterfall, flowing over moss covered rocks into a crystal clear pool and surrounded by green ferns and native bush.

Canyoning with us in Nelson lakes National Park includes a water taxi ride across the pristine Lake Rotoiti, under the impressive gaze of Mount Pourangahau (Robert), where we walk through lush, untouched native bush. The journey continues through a steeply slotted Greywacke Canyon, carved by water so pure you can drink. We believe this is one of the most beautiful places to see in Aotearoa.

2. Great for Fitness

Canyoning is a physical activity. It combines walking to the top of the canyon, swimming across pools of water, scrambling over rocks and abseiling. We know staying active not only helps maintain a healthy body, it also helps maintain a healthy mind and contributes to our overall wellbeing. We can guarantee, after a day canyoning adventure, you will sleep well that night as exercise increases the natural sleep hormones such as melatonin.

Our half day tour in Hidden Falls Canyon includes half an hour walking and two hours in the canyon. For those adventurous types looking for an epic full day adventure, our Shift Creek Canyoning trip involves three hours of walking and around four hours in the canyon.

3. Connect with people

Canyoning is a team sport. Once the rope is pulled down after the first abseil, we as a group are now alone in the canyon. There is only one way out, and that is to rely on each other to make our way safely down the canyon. As a team, we spot each other down certain features, pass on information or signals to those behind us and share the same feelings of excitement and adrenaline. Canyoning is a great way to meet new people or to go with friends, family and those we love. To experience an adventure and sharing memories that will last us a lifetime.

You can book a special tour with only your friends!

4. Learn new skills

Clip or unclip yourself from ropes, belays, jump, slide in the correct position to be safe and enjoy the adrenaline rush of the features. Pack the rope in the bag to be an efficient Dream Team! Part of your journey with us is to learn some canyoning skills, as we want you to experience as much by yourself, and always under our safety checks.

5. Challenge yourself

Being surrounding by the canyon environment, descending waterfalls, can be challenging and overwhelming - we know that, but with our help we will make sure you can go out of your comfort zone in a safe and playful way for you to grow and feel alive. We believe being in the nature is an important component for well-being and happiness and to connect with yourself deeply.

If you feel like jumping is not your thing, don't worry, jumping is never mandatory, there is always another way to go down, and we’ll make sure you feel proud of yourself.

6. It's so FUN!

Canyoning combine different way of descending a canyon, which make it uniquely fun and adventurous. You will end up with a big smile on your face, and you will feel alive as never!
